I was born in Brooklyn, NY, and somehow inherited the NL gene, so when I got a little older, growing up in Long Island, the Mets were my team (along with the Jets, and Joe Willie, but that's a story for another time). The first game I attended was on Saturday July 13, 1963, at the Polo Grounds against the Dodgers. Our Amazins were down 11-2 after the top of the 8th and my parents wanted to leave. But no, as a true (orange and) blue fan, I wouldn't let them leave. I had to stay to the end. We lost 11-2.
Well, I grew up, graduated from SUNY Buffalo, went to Penn State for a Masters in Chemistry, switched careers in the early 80's and have been in the IT industry ever since. I am happily married and have two wonderful girls, aged 15 and 10, and live in Southwestern Connecticut.
Still love those Metsies though.
