My writing career actually began long before this. That's when I would tune into WFAN and contemplate every trade rumor, eventually being the one who made the final decision. Of course, there were always the lists of free agent and prospect projections for the coming year, which filled up my own little notebooks, since I felt I was as good an analyst as there was. (Actually, I still feel that way, I guess I'm preety spoiled.)
But if it wasn't for baseball card collecting, I really wouldn't have paid much attention to those prospect rankings.
Being part of a younger generation of baseball fans, I became excited at the thought of stockpiling cheap autographs of what I believed would become "the next generation." Some of my winners include Jose Reyes, Mark Texiera, and Brandon Webb. But nine times out of ten, they were usually busts. Tyler Yates, Chin-Hui Tsao, Jason Lane, Edwin Jackson, Kyle Sleeth, Alex Escobar, just to name a few.
Where does my writing ability stem from? I started reading the New York Times at a very young age. It's less glorious than it sounds, because my dad forced me to do so, but it made me the half-intellectual I'm today.
Feel free to both email me with any questions, and call me "Himme."
