Reyes Deserves Criticism for Antics

Reyes acted like he just won the 1988 World Series a la Kirk Gibson, even though he simply broke a tie in a late-July game. This is the guy who disappeared in September last season, hitting only for a .612 OPS in that month as the Mets collapsed in quite an epic way.

Mike Pelfrey settled down after some early jitters and Carlos Delgado put together a nice game going 2 for 4 with a dinger, but it was the bullpen that was the Mets achillies heel in the second game of todays double-header.

Clearly Jorge Sosa didn't have his best stuff on Friday night as he was spinning pitch after pitch up in the hitting zone to the National batters. Somehow he survived through six innings giving up five earned runs.

On a night where Tom Glavine showed signs of struggling, he managed to put together six innings of eight hit ball while giving up three earned runs. Offensive player of the night for the Mets was Paul LoDuca, who went 2 for 4, two of which were doubles while knocking in four runs.

What a nice evening for Mets pitcher John Maine Tuesday night as he led the Mets to a win by pitching seven innings of five hit ball, while giving up just two runs and striking out seven. In the postgame though, all questions turned to his home run that he drove over the left field wall in the fourth inning.

What a treat it was today watching recently called up Chip Ambres come through with the game winning RBI. Today's victory also gave the Mets a 3-1 series win over the Los Angeles Dodgers this weekend.

Sosa Lets One Slip Away As Dodgers Go On To Win, 8-6

It appeared the Mets were on their way to their third consecutive victory against the Dodgers Saturday afternoon, as the offense staked Jorge Sosa to a 4-0 lead. Unfortunately, Sosa didn't have his best stuff and the Dodgers were able to generate more than enough offense, as they went on for the win.
