He played the beginning of 2006 for the AAA franchise for Cincinnatti (.315/394/.493/.887), until he was called up by the Reds (.214 in 14 at bats). He was DFA’s and the Mets picked him up on waivers.
Phillips professional career over 5 seasons has resulted in a .252/.294/.381/.675 record.
I talked to Kevin Reece/ex-Yankee teammate of Phillips today… “Andy is one of the best teammates and greatest guys I have ever had the pleasure of playing with”, said Reece. “And he can really hit! Just a great all around guy.”

a bunch of old guys played another bunch of old guys in a league nobody cares about... what a great fucking concept...
B-Mets:
OF Fernando Martinez will rejoin the B-Met lineup on Friday. He was also named to the Future’s Game’s World Team roster.
Bobby Parnell has a plan for each start. The Binghamton Mets right-hander always wants to be in a good groove by the time he hits the middle innings. He got that done on Wednesday, tossing seven strong innings to lead the B-Mets to a 5-2 victory over the Altoona Curve in the third game of a four-game Eastern League series at NYSEG Stadium. "I fought myself a bit out there tonight, but I was able to get my fastball down in the zone," said Parnell, who struck out six and allowed just five hits. "They're an aggressive swinging team, and that's how I pitch. I'm going to give up some hits, but I just try to get them to keep it on the ground and let (shortstop Jonathan) Malo and (second baseman Emmanuel) Garcia turn those double plays." Parnell (7-4) has won back-to-back starts and is 4-1 over his last seven starts. He's allowed no more than an earned run in six of those starts. "He did the same thing he did his last outing, and the outing before that -- he attacked the zone, mixed his pitches, used his secondary pitches along with his fastball," said B-Mets pitching coach Ricky Bones, who managed the team along with hitting coach Luis Natera due to Mako Oliveras' suspension. – pressconnects.com
Jose Sanchez allowed a run over six innings and the Binghamton Mets scored in four different innings for a 4-3 win over the Altoona Curve at NYSEG Stadium Thursday. Binghamton, which took three of four in the series, have won six of eight and 20 of 27.
Altoona (34-43) took a 1-0 lead in the second when Jason Delaney reached Sanchez (7-4) for a solo homer. However, the B-Mets (44-34) responded in their half of the second. Jonathan Malo hit a one-out double off Derek Hankins and, two batters later, Jose Coronado’s double drove him in, tying the score. Binghamton got another off Hankins (1-4) in the fourth when Malo reached on a fielder’s choice, stole second and scored on Emmanuel Garcia’s double to center for a 2-1 lead.
Salomon Manriquez and Malo singled in the sixth, putting runners at the corners with no outs before Garcia’s double-play groundout scored Manriquez. The B-Mets put runners at the corners again in the seventh on singles by Eric Reed and Mike Carp. The pair executed a double steal, with Reed scoring after Carp took second.
B-Mets reliever Eude Brito retired the first five he faced, but loaded the bases with two out in the ninth. Eddie Kunz followed, giving up a first-pitch, two-run single to pinch-hitter Chris Duffy before recording the final out for his 20th save in 23 chances.
Lucy:
Activate OF – Brahiam Maldonado from DL
Place OF – Brian Burgamy on DL retroactive to 6/25
The St. Lucie Mets game against the Clearwater Threshers has been postponed due to rain, wet field conditions and the threat of more inclement weather. The game will be made up Friday June 27th as part of a double header at Tradition Field. Game one will begin at 5:00PM with the gates opening at 4:30PM. Game two will begin one half hour after the conclusion of game one. Both games will be seven inning contests
Gnats:
Thursday’s Sand Gnats game against Rome has been postponed due to heavy rain and wet field conditions. The game, originally scheduled for 7 p.m. is scheduled to be made up Friday as part of a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. Each game will consist of seven innings.
Clones:
Going into Thursday night’s game, the team batting this year was .184/.275/.262/.537... well, one way of changing that is to put Ryan Church and Ike Davis in your lineup... Church went 3-3, Ike doubled, and the Clones won a "sweatheart" of a game.
K-Port:
The K-Port bats woke up and the team won, 8-3, vs. Pulaski... big bat was once again Wilmer Flores (.400), who went 4-5, with a triple and 3 RBIs... it's going to be real hard to keep this kid down here real soon... also, 19-yr old Aussie sensation Stefan Welsh ain't playing too shabby (.364), going 3-5, with a double, triple, and 4 RBIs...
GCL Mets
The Mets won, 5-3, on Thursday, against the Cardinals. The game was shortened to 5 innings due to rain… Fernando Martinez finished his rehab session, going 2-3 and batting .462 while in town… IF Juan Torrez had his 1st home run stateside…
DSL Mets:
Mets won 5-4, in 12 innings, against the Marlins… RF Andres Perez went 4-6, raising his BA to .289… RP Victor Peralta (2-2, 3.0 IP, O ER) got the win…
VSL Mets:
-no games were scheduled in Ven-land
Minor League Bios:
Jose Coronado SS S R 6' 1" 175 04-13-1986
The New York Mets signed shortstop Jose Coronado as an International free agent out of Venezuela back in August of 2003, where he started his Mets career with the VSL team. Jose had an impressive first year with the team winning the league championship. 2005 started at GCL Mets, where Coronado hit an incredible .404. Things quieted down (.225) when he finished the year at Hagerstown.
Coronado, who turned 20 in April, began and ended 2006 with St. Lucie, where he, frankly, underperformed (544 at bats - .226/.283/.278).
He’s very good defensively, but needs to get stronger with the bat. His plate discipline is quite good for a young player, and the Mets have no reason rush a SS prospect. OnDeck ranks him the 34th Mets prospect. In February 2007, Scout.com ranked Coronado as the 11th top Mets prospect.
In 2007, Coronado ended the season on the IR after hitting .212/.284/.257 in 307 at bats for the B-Mets.
Ex-Mets:
Lastings Milledge reached base 3 times, homered, and drove in 2 runs, and Jesus Flores singled in the winning run in the last of the 9th inning to give the Nationals a 5-4 walk-off victory over the Angels
Carlos Gomez went 3-for-4 with 2 stolen bases and 2 RBI as the Twins defeated the Padres on Wednesday night. Gomez is hitting .272 on the season, which is impressive for someone with a 77 strikeouts and just 12 walks. He also stole two bases on Wednesday, a positive sign considering his recent drought: he had 16 steals on May 11, but has swiped only two bases since then. He's a decent shot to score 100 runs, but will have to start running again if he wants to maintain solid fantasy value. - Rotoworld
Jay Payton hit 2 home runs and drove in 4 for Baltimore
This Day in Mets History:
1993 - Anthony Young sets a major league record losing his 24th straight decision as the Cardinals beat the Mets, 5-3.
