MiLB.com’s Offensive Player of the Week: - Pacific Coast League - Chris Aguila, New Orleans - .500 (12-24), 8 R, 0 2B, 0 3B, 5 HR, 8 RBI, 5 BB, 7 SO, 3 SB, 1.125 SLG - Aguila, a former third-round Draft pick by Florida, raised his average 33 percentage points last week. Now in the New York Mets organization, the smooth-swinging left fielder put on a show against the Round Rock Express. On Saturday he had three hits -- two of which left the park -- and three RBIs. For an encore, the Redwood City, Calif. native posted a four-hit game, again belting two round-trippers and knocking in three runs. Aguila already has 14 home runs this season -- one shy of his personal best at any level over the course of his 12-year career.
The New Orleans Zephyrs combined timely hitting with solid pitching on Tuesday night and for the first time this season win a series on the road. The visiting Z’s defeated the Round Rock Express 3-2 and win the series three games to one. The first four hitters of the game singled followed by a sacrifice fly and a fielders choice and the Zephyrs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first. The Express answered with a run in the bottom of the inning. Zephyr starter Willie Collazo worked 7.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits and earned his third win of the season. The lefty retired ten consecutive hitters in one stretch and held the Express to one hit through 6.1 innings. The Express rallied in the eighth inning with back to back hits to start the inning followed by a sacrifice bunt. Tomas Perez drilled a line drive to right field for a sacrifice fly to score the second run. Brandon Knight entered the game and Edwin Maysonet lined a single to left field as Humberto Quintero attempted to score from second base but a perfect throw from Chris Agulia ended the rally and the inning. Knight pitched a perfect ninth and earned his first save. The streaking Z’s have won three consecutive games after dropping five consecutive prior to this win streak. Tuesday’s game was the final game of the season against Round Rock, the Zephyrs won the season series 9 games to 7.

The Binghamton Mets scored three times in the third, but the Harrisburg Senators put together two four-run innings en route to an 8-3 win at Commerce Bank Park Tuesday. The game was called after six innings because of rain. Binghamton’s win streak ends at five games. With one out in the first, Harrisburg (34-22) had six straight baserunners reach against Eric Brown. Luke Montz picked up an RBI double before Luis Jimenez hit a three-run homer that put the Senators up 4-0. The B-Mets (29-28) rallied against Harrisburg starter Jordan Zimmerman in the third. Eric Reed and Jose Coronado drew back-to-back, one-out walks before Daniel Murphy doubled in Reed and Caleb Stewart’s groundout scored Coronado. After Mike Carp walked, Ambiorix Concepcion’s bloop-base hit to center brought in Murphy, cutting Harrisburg’s lead to 4-3. However, Harrisburg put the game away against Brown (2-5) in the fourth, thanks to back-to-back RBI doubles by Garrett Guzman and William Bergolla and Montz’s two-run homer. Zimmerman was pulled after four innings and replaced by Levale Speigner (1-0), who tossed two shutout innings of relief for the win. Eude Brito faced the minimum over his two scoreless innings of relief work for the B-Mets.

This Day In Mets History:
1968 - En route to a 2-0 win at Wrigley Field, Mets' rookie southpaw Jerry Koosman strikes out seven consecutive batters.
1980 - At Shea Stadium, Jim Kaat, recently traded from the Yankees, goes the distance as the Cardinals blank the Mets in 10 innings, 1-0. The 41-year hurler, who didn't started a game last season, gets the win as third baseman Ken Reitz extra inning home run provides margin of victory.
1998 - The Dodgers trade the 1995 National League Rookie of the Year Hideo Nomo (2-7 with a 5.05 ERA ) and reliever Brad Clontz to the Mets for pitchers Dave Mlicki and Greg McMichael.
2004 - At Turner Field, Julio Franco became the oldest player in baseball history to hit a grand slam. The 45-year old Dominican first baseman’s first inning base-loaded home run proves to be the difference as the Braves beat the Phillies, 8-4.
