Philip Humber went six strong innings and struck out two Nashville batters, while scattering five hits in his latest outing Monday evening. Humber, who pitched at Rice, was the New York Mets' No. 1 pick and third pick overall in the 2004 draft, has now seen his ERA drop down to 3.86.
Other notables for the Zephyrs, Ruben Gotay, Andy Tracy and Anderson Hernandez hit homers, and Mike DeFelice and Carlos Gomez had three hits apiece for the Zephyrs, who snapped a four-game losing streak.
Extra Notes: Gomez, who went 3-for-3 with a triple and a run scored, extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
He said it: "Today we came and got our base hits, played good all-around baseball." -- Gotay.
