The Sand Gnats have switched pitching coaches recently and have named Johnathan Hurst to take over the duties, while sending previous coach Dan Murray down to St. Lucie of the Florida State League for reassignment.
Hurst was drafted in 1987 by the Texas Rangers, before being traded to Montreal for ‘Oil Can’ Boyd in the 1991 season.. In 1994 he had a short stint with the Mets where he pitched 10 innings for the amazins’, before rounding out his career in Japan.
