The Mets wasted no time in optioning Chan Ho Park back to AAA New Orleans today, and recalled 27-year-old right-handed reliever Lino Urdaneta, who will be available to pitch if needed tonight.
Urdaneta had a 1-0 record with six saves and a 5.84 ERA in 10 relief appearances with the Zephyrs. He allowed 12 hits and two walks and struck out two in 12 1/3 innings. He had an 0-2 record with two saves and a 3.00 ERA in 10 appearances and 12 innings in Spring Training, allowing 12 hits and a walk and striking out eight.
Park, promoted to replaced the injured Orlando Hernandez, pitched four innings Monday night, allowing six hits. and seven runs. including 2 HRs. He had a 3-1 record with a 7.29 ERA in four starts with the Zephyrs before being recalled.
It appears that Aaron Sele would be in line to start in Park's place over the weekend.
