Mets management had a change of heart just yesterday and recalled Ambiorix Burgos, 23, from the AAA Zephyrs, at the same time optioning Lino Urdaneta, 27, back to New Orleans. Urdaneta had been used just twice, logging one inning and allowing one run (earned) on a home run, striking out and walking none.
Burgos had been used three times at New Orleans pitching five innings allowing three runs (earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking three.
Burgos had pitched 15+ innings before his demotion, striking out 12 and walking 7 with an ERA of 4.11. He will be in uniform tonight and available to pitch against Chicago at Shea Stadium.
